Bringing the gas industry together
Gas Today — February 2011
The Gas Industry Christmas Networking Cocktail Evening, hosted by Gas Today, FutureGAS, Carter Newell Lawyers and Grant Thornton Chartered Accountants, proved to be a great opportunity for members of the industry to form new contacts and catch up with old ones.
Held on 7 December 2010 at Grant Thornton’s Brisbane offices, the event saw over 100 gas industry members gather to celebrate a successful year for the sector.
The guest speaker for the evening was Glenn Porter, Chief Executive Officer of Energy Skills Queensland (ESQ) and Chair of the CSG/LNG Skills Taskforce. Mr Porter spoke about the work ESQ and the Taskforce are doing to identify skill areas that are likely to be in-demand as major gas projects develop in the state, as well as strategies to meet these demands.
The movers and shakers of the gas industry kept the room abuzz with discussions about natural gas vehicles, Queensland’s major gas projects, coal seam gas and much more.
Gas Today will be holding further networking events in 2011:
- Sydney: 28 June 2011
- Brisbane: 29 June 2011
- Melbourne: 9 August 2011
- Perth: 10 August 2011
