The station is the first of its kind in Canberra, and ActewAGL’s second – the company owns another in Moore Bank, Sydney.

ActewAGL Manager Gas Networks Macleay Connelly said “While natural gas is commonly used in Australia to heat homes, generate electricity and power industrial facilities, it is also a realistic alternative to conventional petrol and diesel as a road transport fuel.

“Currently there are a number of CNG vehicles on offer in the Australian market from manufacturers like Mercedes and Isuzu and even more vehicles are expected to be available in the near future. Conversion of existing or new vehicles is also available using the latest CNG technologies and authorised conversion specialists.”

The company is investigating additional locations for CNG refuelling stations in Canberra.
