The platform consists of a topside which is 37,000 tonnes scaled and a steel gravity based substructure supporting the topside, scaled at 27,000 tonnes. The platform will be capable of refining 5,500 cubic metres of natural gas per day.
Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering will be in charge of the entire process of building this platform including design, purchasing, production, and installation.
The Wheatstone LNG Development is a joint venture between the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (operator, 73.6 per cent), Apache (13 per cent), Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (7 per cent) and Shell (6.4 per cent).
