The year ending 30 June 2010 saw a 3.3 per cent increase in residential customers and 2 per cent increase in non-residential customers over the 2008–09 financial year.

There was a 39.4 per cent increase on the number of customers on an instalment payment plan over the 2009–10 financial year, bringing the statewide total to 1.7 per cent of residential and 0.5 per cent of non-residential customers.

The number of residential disconnections for non-payment increased by 2.5 per cent as compared to the 2008-09 year to 17,232.

The only natural gas retailers to report reconnecting residential or non-residential customers within seven days of disconnection during the 2009–10 financial year were Alinta Sales and WorleyParsons.

The statewide residential reconnection rate during 2009–10 was 1.82 per cent, significantly higher than in South Australia’s 0.52 per cent and Victoria’s 0.35 per cent reconnection rate.
