Two Western Australian industry chambers will team up with the State Government to address the issue of future additional labour requirements in the state.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Western Australia (CCIWA) and Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME), along with the State Government, will develop the Western Australia Skilled Migration Strategy.
Western Australian Training and Workforce Development Minister Peter Collier said “The strategy will provide for a responsive, efficient and consistent approach to meeting the state’s skilled migration needs over the short to medium term, as Western Australia enters a new phase in economic growth driven by a strong resources sector.
The CME has identified that an extra 26,000 workers will be needed in the resources sector alone by 2013.
