Inpex and Total have anounced a gas sales agreement between the parties and a consortium of Japanese companies totaling a volume of 8.4 MMt/a of LNG from the Ichthys Project.
This will mean that approximately 70 per cent of Ichthys LNG will be delivered to Japan.
Under the sales and purchase agreement, Ichthys LNG will sell LNG for 15 years commencing in 2017 from the Ichthys Project to:
• Tokyo Electric Power Company - 1.05 MMt/a
• Tokyo Gas - 1.05 MMt/a
• The Kansai Electric Power Co - 0.80 MMt/a
• Osaka Gas Co - 0.80 MMt/a
• Kyushu Electric Power Company - 0.30 MMt/a
Inpex are still targeting the end of 2011/ early 2012 for a final investment decision on the project.
