IEA, which is owned by New Zealand’s Infratil Ltd, bought the site for $A9 million.
Chief Executive Officer Darryl Flukes said “Infratil is pleased to obtain this site in its portfolio. It will continue to support the growth of Infratil’s retail business – Lumo Energy.”
The company said Bamarang was considered a quality site for the development of a gas-fired power plant given its close proximity to gas and water supply pipelines, the high voltage transmission network and project approvals already in place for gas turbines with capacity up to 450 MW.
Delta Electricity had previously been granted permission to construct the Bamarang Power Station.

Bamarang was one of the sites on offer as part of the New South Wales State Government's Energy Industry Reform, which includes seven development sites being made available for trade sales.
