“Right now, Australia has as many as 12 LNG projects under consideration. If they proceed, these projects could quadruple our export capacity and put Australia in the top three of LNG exporters,” Ms Robinson said at the World Gas Conference in Argentina.
APPEA has said that Australia’s proximity to the growing Asia Pacific energy market, stable government and economy, and transparent investment and regulatory regime with numerous avenues of entry, makes it an attractive destination for LNG investment.
Ms Robinson also noted that energy security and competitive markets have an inextricable relationship. “We know that policy making that seeks to regulate upstream gas markets and/or price inevitably leads to less investment, less diversity, less gas and, consequently, higher domestic gas prices,” she said.
