One scholarship, valued at $A20,000 will cover the standard duration of a Bachelor of Engineering (Petroleum Engineering) degree over four years. The remainder will be offered in another scholarship, awarded to the best first-year student changing from another course to major in petroleum engineering.
Curtin head of petroleum engineering Brian Evans said “The development of Western Australia’s economy over the coming decades will be strongly linked to the growth of the oil and gas industry.”
“Curtin and Woodside understand this and we are offering opportunities to promising students who can see themselves building the future of the Western Australia energy industry,” he said.
Scholarship recipients may also have the opportunity to complete vacation employment at Woodside Energy. Woodside’s chief reservoir engineer Ian Sylvester said the company needs good engineers to sustain its growth into a major global supplier of cleaner energy.
