The Leigh Creek Energy Project successfully gasifier began successfully producing syngas on 10 October.
Reflecting on the milestone, Leigh Creek Energy’s Managing Director Phil Staveley said, “We are very pleased to be able to report that we have produced first syngas flows at the [Leigh Creek Energy Project].
“This significant company milestone unlocks a large energy resource and enables the company to quickly move toward having this resource upgraded to reserve status by the end of Q4 2018.
“We look forward to updating the market as we move closer to certification.”
The ultimate aim of the Leigh Creek Energy Project is to demonstrate that the company can operate the gasifier in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, while producing over 1 million cubic feet of syngas per day.
The commercial production rates of syngas could be up to three times that amount.
